What Is Cold Aisle Containment?_
Cold aisle containment encloses the cold supply side of server racks, ensuring chilled air is delivered directly to server intakes without mixing with hot exhaust air. This is an alternative to hot aisle containment and is often preferred in retrofit environments where sealing the hot aisle is more difficult.
Technical Details
Cold aisle containment uses doors, roof panels, and floor sealing to create an enclosed cold air supply plenum in front of server racks. The chilled air from CRAH/CRAC units or underfloor plenums is delivered directly to server intakes, improving supply air temperature consistency. Cold aisle containment is often easier to retrofit in existing facilities because the hot exhaust can return to the general room space without impacting efficiency as severely. However, it can create challenges with fire suppression systems and personnel comfort in the enclosed cold aisle.
How Leviathan Systems Works with Cold Aisle Containment
Leviathan Systems works within both hot and cold aisle containment configurations during GPU rack deployments, adapting our assembly and cabling processes to the specific containment architecture of each facility.
